Carpet moths
How to protect your carpets!
The recent damp weather has been extremely good news for carpet moths.
Like most insects they are happiest in a more humid environment and have been thriving all across our servicing area.
Moth damage can be extremely fustrating, with large holes appearing in clothing and carpets over a very short space of time.
Carpet moths are small, powdery grey insects with a maximum wingspan of about 2cm but it is their larvae that cause the damage, eating through natural fibres at an alarming rate.
Although there are no health risks posed by carpet moths, the damage to property can be very distressing and expensive. This continues for weeks as the larvae develop, and by the time moths are seen flying a lot of harm may have been done to possessions and furniture.
There is little you can do to prevent them from entering your property but regular, thorough vacuum cleaning along with the use of sprays and powders can make a difference.
However curing the issue effectively may take professional help.
